transportation planning for the independent traveler
Tell passport junkie where you’re going and when. We’ll provide you with a summary of the different passenger transportation options available – how much you should expect to pay, how long you should expect each to take, and other useful information (are overnight trips offered?). You can dive deeper to review specific travel suppliers for each transportation mode, and jump right over to their websites to check availability and book. Passport Junkie is not a travel agent – we can’t book travel for you, but we can point you to the direct and indirect sellers who can. For more information on what the site is and how to use it, see the FAQ entry on our blog.

Full disclosure: for some sellers, we can earn commissions if you purchase from them after visiting our site. However these relationships will NEVER affect the integrity of the information you see. If you’ve found our site useful, we hope you will buy after being referred by us, so we can invest in and expand the site.

If other travelers find this useful, we hope to expand our functionality to provide even more travel planning information. Check out our feedback page to see what we’re working on next, vote for your favorites, and pitch us a new idea or two.
the planning info we need can be very hard to find
We don’t always have the luxury of making decisions on the go – sometimes we need to do a little planning, at least to understand what we can reasonably do in the time we have – either way, we want to enjoy the travel experience and not be bogged down by quirks in logistics

Although we may not know much about these foreign lands, we want to make decisions for ourselves, but often lack comprehensive-enough information to do so – even after searching for this information online for hours, we’re often still uncertain if we really have the complete picture.

We’re not concerned simply to get from A to B as fast as possible – other considerations are important (cost, safety, experience, comfort, environmental impact, etc.) We just want to know our options, so we can at least be informed and at best be able to make a travel planning decision.

The Plan Man: Todd
Thanks to my mother’s career as a flight attendant, I got an early start on my travel career, flying all around the US to visit our relatives and on family vacations. Many years later, I had landed in Athens on a red-eye Easyjet flight from London that cost me less than $100 as a walk-up fare! It was the first of many foreign budget travel adventures, which have taken me to all kinds of interesting destinations, hostels with character, and beautiful sights. I was inspired to create Passport Junkie as a result of planning several of those adventures – when I had a “real job,” my trips (which I tried to do twice per year) had to be confined to 2-4 weeks in total duration. For each trip, I could easily come up with a list of cities I wanted to visit, but I found myself spending way too much time trying to figure out if I could actually make it happen in my limited time and within my desired budget. I’d come across all kinds of travel forum posts that were asking similar questions, so I knew others were having the same issues. I felt strongly enough about this problem that I quit my job and set out find a better way for such information to be organized and presented. I hope you’ll check it out and that you will find it useful enough to refer a friend – depending on how many people do, I’ll be able to sustain and grow the site into an even more valuable resource for travelers from all over the world.

I'm always interested to help and hear what you think - if you need help planning a trip and want some tips, if you want to tell me where and how to improve the site, or for anything else that comes to mind - feel free to contact me directly by email: todd(at)passportjunkie(dotcom)
